Atabey is the supreme goddess of Taino mythology (native tribe that inhabit the Caribbean islands and throughout the diaspora) who represents the earth, fresh waters and fertility, She is always depicted in a birthing position grounding herself, a nurturer and frog legs to represent her sacred animal (sacred animal of the Tainos) and the island of Borinquen. She gave birth to herself from the elements creating the world around her.
